November Summary
Maurice Renck
It's end of November already! Time for another roundup of what we did the last weeks. Some exciting stuff happened!
Sociabli
In the last summary, we mentioned that we were making good progress with our cross-poster, and now it's here: we're live! Not only that, but we've also found a proper name and have now entered the beta phase: Sociabli. The first users are already here and using our service – we, of course, as well.
Sociabli ensures that Mastodon posts also land on Bluesky and that selected blog posts are posted to Medium, correctly linked with canonical URLs so that we don't create duplicates.
Our beta is now open to everyone, and you can sign up here: https://sociab.li/
Of course, this topic is far from finished. We're working on more flows and want to make Sociabli more well-known. That's why we're also excited that last week, we made it into the Top 10 products on Peerlist and even became Product of the Day.
We'll now work on additional flows, so users can post from Bluesky to Mastodon as well.
Kirby Plugins
Sociabli users can use our API to distribute their blog posts. However, they don't have to do much work themselves; they can simply use our plugins. Our Kirby plugin is already live, and the WordPress plugin is on its way.
Work has also continued on the previously mentioned OG image plugin, and Maurice has been working on the queue feature for his IndieConnector. You can find all our plugins in the official directory:

Server Side Stories
Our new podcast now has three episodes online, and we're working on more. We're still trying to find a good process for ourselves and the right tone that resonates with our target audience.
In the last two episodes, we talk about our content workflow and how we handle Git and Semver.
So far, we've recorded remotely, but the upcoming episodes will be recorded together in one location – we'll see how the dynamic develops here. You can listen to it here:

TV Masters
Aside from all the work, Mark prepared for his final exam for his TV Masters degree – despite COVID. This meant meeting the deadline for the "TV Masters by Thinkbox" course and completing all the videos and questionnaires. In the end, Mark succeeded and was able to hold his certificate in his hands 👏

In November, Mark completed his Book Challenge: every day, he posted the cover of a book that influenced him or that stayed with him for other reasons: https://yadl.info/de/notes/2024/book-challenge-day-01
Meanwhile, Maurice didn't post as much. He imposed a content freeze on himself to finish relaunching his website. Since he made significant changes to the structure of his Kirby pages, a short break was inevitable. But now the new site is online, and with it, the first new posts: https://maurice-renck.de/blog/2024/weniger-ist-mehr
Have you heard of a UUID? We use them frequently in our software and wouldn't know how to get by without them. However, UUIDs are not always the best solution. Chris writes on Medium about why that is and which alternatives he found: https://medium.com/@csjcode/uuid-alternatives-for-cloud-apps-9410f194b4d1
What makes a good developer? You can hear a more detailed discussion in one of our upcoming episodes. Until then, Derek provides a good overview of the qualities he considers important: https://medium.com/career-programming/10-habits-of-great-software-engineers-226474bbb849
We wish you lots of fun reading and exploring, and we’ll be back before Christmas. See you then!
