March Summary

Spring seems still to be a bit shy, but slowly temperatures rise and days get brighter. With April ahead, it's time for our monthly blog post. This is what happened in March.
Kirby
Even though the month was a short one for us because there were two weeks of school holidays we used to get away from the computer a bit, we made good progress on another Kirby project we're working on.
A new website for an artist, so it's a very visual design which comes with different challenges than - let's say - a blog. This is more of a CSS challenge than a Kirby one because it's effortless to scale and handle media with Kirby.
Maurice also released a new major version of the Komments plugin, which is a huge update introducing several new features (and breaking changes). To get this online, Maurice also worked on a new feature on his website, which allows him to build submenus for documentations or article series. You can see both here:

Sociabli
While the number of users steadily increases, we are working on new features. We're - at this moment - implementing a better authorization method for Mastodon. This way we're not reliant on the RSS and JSON feeds of users. This is important because some of the instances and forks work a bit different which leads to problems. Most of those problems can be solved by using the Mastodon API, which we will do in the future.
This way it's also way easier to add accounts to Sociabli, as you don't have to look for app passwords or have to create tokens.
Unfortunately we had some trouble with our server which we temporarily solved. This is one reason why we're implementing this new approach, to make the system more stable.
Customers
While tackling all those issues and challenges, we were also working for our customers and made great progress working on a project with event store and real time server-events. Step by step, things come together and form a usable product which will make the lives of a lot of people a little bit better. Isn't that cool?
Server Side Stories
After you finished reading this blog post, you could click on "Podcast" up there in the main navigation and head over to Server Side Stories. Our German podcast. Last month we talked about two topics:
- Tailwindcss vs. CSS
- The right work environment for more productivity
What we read
Still not enough input? Here are some recommendations out of all the things we read last month:
Don’t use TypeScript types like this. Use Map Pattern instead
Studie: Open Source und knapp 3.000 Entwickler sind das digitale Fundament der Weltwirtschaft
A Long-Shot Bet to Bypass the Middlemen of Social Media
That's it for now. We'll be back in a month at this place or next week with a new episode of our Podcast. See you!
